LE DRAKKAR
After the First World War, the Casino began to organize movie shows. But there was no theater in the village. At the end of the Twenties, the town council considered the project, but the Parish was faster. Already in 1925, few locals with help from Father Prieur, Luc’s Priest, were organizing educational shows for working class. In 1930 a working-class education association was created at the same time as the Company of the “show-room Foch”. This Limited company had for goal the construction and the running of a show room, rented to the working-class education association. The inauguration’s ceremony took place May 10th, 1931. Later the Foch room was given to the town in exchange with the heating installation in the church. It took the name of “le Drakkar”. Today, this Show room organizes all year long different kinds of shows: musical, theater, children shows, and movies in summer…
GALERIE (ART GALLERY) DU PETIT ENFER
La Galerie du Petit Enfer was opened in 1990. It receives each week professional or amateur artists for exhibitions. Painting, sculptures, photographs… To rent the gallery for an exhibition, please call Madame Curet, deputy mayor in charge of the cultural projects. You would have to take an appointment with her to show her some sample of your work, and make a reservation for the gallery. Be carreful, make it in advance, the reservation’s planning is very full. In order to gather painters, “Luc en peinture” is a festival, taking place each year in mid-August. Painters have to paint something of Luc sur mer during one day. The day after, their work is exhibited, then sold by auction. Each year, around 30 painters disperse in Luc, on the beach, on the promenade, in the streets or in the parks…and take part in that very interesting activity.
